TROPIC OF CANCER was Henry Miller's first published novel and one that, set in depresion-era Paris, was to leave an indelible imprint on the genre and influence the course of much serious literature thereafter, including works by Lawrence Durrell. John O'Loughlin has coupled this great book to one of his original projects entitled THE ELEMENTAL SPECTRA QUARTET - four books of 'supernotational' philosophy dating from the mid-late '80s and advancing, on relatively informal terms, the ideological philosophy of Social Transcendentalism.
